Guide to the SkyStar Observation Wheel at Fisherman's Wharf
Find out how to experience Fisherman's Wharf's newest attraction and one of the most spectacular ways to see San Francisco.
About the SkyStar Observation Wheel
Standing 15 stories tall, the state-of-the-art SkyStar Observation Wheel features 36 enclosed, well-ventilated gondolas, boasting unparalleled views that span the city. From its heights, you'll be able to see the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, the gleaming skyscrapers of downtown, and the beautiful communities of Sausalito and Tiburon in the north bay.
Operational hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
How to Get to the Wheel
The Wheel is located along Jefferson Street, between Powell and Mason streets. (It's official address is 2860 Taylor Street, for those using a GPS or taking a ride share.) Car parking is available at the adjacent lot, and there are many other lots and garages in the neighborhood.
You can reach the Wheel by taking the historic F Line streetcar to the Jefferson & Powell stop. You could also ride the Powell-Mason cable car to its final stop at Taylor and Bay streets and then walk four blocks through the neighborhood. The 8 and 8x Muni buses travel through SoMa and Union Square, past many of our most popular hotels, and terminate at Kearney and North Point streets. From there, it's a short walk past PIER 39 to the Wheel. Lastly, while not as frequent, the 39 Muni bus will take visitors from North Beach to Powell and Beach streets, just around the corner from the Wheel.

Nearby Attractions
The SkyStar Observation Wheel now sits proudly in one of San Francisco's most visited neighborhoods, which is full of great, family-friendly attractions.
PIER 39 offers two levels of dining, entertainment, shopping, and attractions all surrounded by unbeatable views of the city and the bay. You can also take a spin on The Flyer, get immersed in a 7D Experience, and get up close with local sea life at the Aquarium of the Bay—or just visit the sea lions who have made their home at K Dock!
The Wheel is now not far from numerous ferry boarding locations. From Pier 41, you can take a ride across the bay to Sausalito, with its boutique shops and waterfront restaurants. Pier 33, Alcatraz Landing, is a short walk from the Wheel. This is the only place you can board the ferry to visit Alcatraz. There are also numerous bay cruises and sightseeing tours you can board in the neighborhood.
There's also plenty to eat in Fisherman's Wharf, including legendary San Francisco delicacies like cioppino and Irish coffee. From Italian to dim sum, and from restaurants perfect for a quiet night for two to others made for big groups, Fisherman's Wharf offers dining options for every traveler's taste and budget.
